Tetris $10,000 - $50,000

Tetris Sega Genesis

Tetris was published along with the use of Sega's System 16 hardware (famous for classics like Shinobi), but never reached store shelves barring Nintendo's bullying for exclusivity.

Apparently claims were main that only between 5 and 8 copies were ever produced. What probably did happen was during the printing of each run thousands did exist and management ended up having employees destroy the remaining copies prior to them hitting store shelves.

M.U.S.H.A.: $200 – $2,000

MUSHA Sega Genesis

Shmup fans have been kicked around for too long with high prices of their beloved franchises. Thankfully in today's age we have tons of mini consoles, flash carts, FPGA devices and of course emulation to keep us going.

MUSHA has slowly risen in price over the years due to two factors, being rare and well good! MUSHA is a vertical shooter developed by Compile in 1990 and follows the Aleste series.

MUSHA has always been well received in the retro gaming community and is often citied for its great soundtrack and challenging gameplay.

Crusader Of Centy: $650 – $3200

Crusader of Centy

In the mid 90's the console war between Sega and Nintendo were furious. Each console was trying to one-up the other in terms of releases and mascots. While Nintendo had The Legend of Zelda, Sega had Crusader of Centy. A blatant ripoff of Link's two dimensional adventure.

Since the start of the pandemic, loose copies of Crusader Of Centy have steadily climbed to almost double in price at $430! Prices have increased to climb to upwards of $650 for a loose copy alone!

The Punisher: $125 - $475

The Punisher (Sega Genesis) Cover

Beat em ups can be quite common, often selling hundreds of thousands of copies like Streets of Rage 2, Golden Axe and many others. The Punisher was released by Capcom and allows you to play as either The Punisher or Nick Fury as you face off against The Kingpin's foes.

Although not as drastic of a climb like the Zelda clone Crusader Of Centy, The Punisher has risen to about double in value at $125 for a loose copy since the start of the pandemic.

Castlevania Bloodlines: $70 - $195

Castlevania Bloodlines Sega Genesis

Konami finally strikes gold with Castlevania Bloodlines on the Sega Genesis. Bringing you two playable characters with different play styles while still giving you the feeling of something different when selecting each of the characters as you make your way through the six stages of the game.

Castlevania Bloodlines will cost you a pretty penny in 2022. Coming in at $70 for a loose copy.

Splatterhouse 2: $100 - $340

Splatterhouse (TurboGrafx-16) (Genesis) Cover

Splatterhouse 2 shares the same gameplay as the original Arcade and TurboGrafx-16 releases. Rick is sent back to the Splatterhouse save his girlfriend Jennifer. Beating down his fair share of zombies, ghouls and anything that is in his way.

Splatterhouse 2 has increased in value reaching the $100 mark in October 2020. Steadily hovering over this value at the time of this writing in April 2022.

Trouble Shooter: $121 - $360

Trouble Shooter shmup Sega Genesis

While above mentioned MUSHA ranks higher on the list of best Sega Genesis Shoot em ups, Trouble Shooter was lead down the path of a rare obscure title in the Sega Genesis library.

Trouble Shooter just never took of and running in the 90's when it was released. As the years passed, retro gamers flocked to seek out a copy of Trouble Shooter with it's unique graphic design and gameplay. It's also got a fantastic cover worth putting on your shelf.

A copy today will send you over $100 for this fantastic shmup!

Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel: $156 - $500

Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel Sega Genesis

16 bit platformers were a dime a dozen. Every developer was trying to catch on to the money printing scheme that Mario and Sonic were able to achieve in the 90's. With no exception, Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel developed by Iguana Entertainment was one of the lesser known games for both the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis back in 1994.

A loose copy of Zero will set you back $156 at the time of this publication.

Aero the Acro-bat 2: $95 - $600

Aero the Acro-Bat 2 (USA) Sega Genesis

The original Aero the Acro-bat was a colossal failure and one of the worst Sega Genesis games. Stiff controls, poor level designs, lack of a password system made the gameplay downright frustrating to experience.

Aero 2 improves on the formula and releases an above average game. Unfortunately, you'll have to shell out a whopping $100 on average for a loose copy in order to pop it in to your Sega Genesis.

Mega Turrican: $100 - $250

Mega Turrican Sega Genesis
